Workshops Past 2011 – Photographing Your Kid’s Sports – with John Omvik

Experience Level:
Enthusiasts to Serious Hobby Photographers.

Equipment Requirements:
DSLR Camera, Medium and/or Telephoto lens.

Location:
Hold The Eye Images studio, 1044 Dell Avenue, Campbell CA; we’ll then drive to a San Jose city park for the shoot.

What to Bring:
Camera, Lens(es), Computer (Optional), Lunch, Monopod (if you have one), knee pads to kneel on or small camping stools to sit on during the shoot.

What To Expect:
In this day-long hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to create stunning photos that freeze the action and expression of any sport. In addition to the optimal camera settings, we’ll talk about how and when to anticipate the action, and how to position yourself for the real hero shots. Participants will also learn the technical fundamentals of photography – such as relationships between aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, along with white balance, lens and auto focus settings that will help you step out of the “Green Zone” to take better sports photos. After the live action shoot, we’ll return to the studio and go through the process of selecting the best photos from the different scenes, processing them to print or share with others. The photography and workflow techniques you’ll learn can be applied to any sport or action event. This workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Date and Time:
